At Crazyquiffs we can restore any Mk1 Golf to an as new condition. From mechanical, engine and brakes to body work and trim, cab roofs and headliners. We have a great pool of parts and know Mk1 Golfs inside and out, so we can get it just right.
We refurbish and use as many original parts as possible. Using re-zincing, recoating and vapour cleaning we can get components back to as new condition and performing correctly.
We carry out most work during the resto except specialist coating, retrimming and body paintwork. In this case we act as your quality control, taking the guesswork and hassle out of it and making sure everything is right for the build.
To date we have restored a number of Mk1s, GTIs and small block cars alike. Projects on our books have included two Mk1 Golf S1 GTIs, a Campaign GTI, a Mk1 Golf GX 4 door and an '82 GTI.
A work programme and budget is provided before work starts.
A full photo journal is provided via Google Drive so you can see progress as we go, and we always encourage owners to visit and check progress.
We request payments at stage milestones as the project progresses, with a final payment on collection.
We are happy to carry out work in phases to fit your budget and timings as required.

At Crazyquiffs we have developed a range of conversions and modifications to improve the MK1 Golf. Our modification work is to our OEM+ style, where everything looks right. Everything we do for the Mk1 is developed and tested on MK1s, and we will also carry out engine conversions to other models in the VAG group.
As well as doing engine rebuilds and uprating, we have fitted a range of engines to the Mk1. We can supply parts to help with your conversion or undertake a full drive-in/drive-out service.
To enhance our engine work we can uprate brakes too. We have developed uprated braking solutions including ABS, a BIAS pedal box and a 280mm front disc.

We are a small company that specialises in the restoration and modification of VW MK1 Golfs in Wallingford. A few of the cars that have been through the doors:
“We converted the shell to 4WD and added an R36, DSG, ABS carbon roof etc. after fully proving out and testing we stripped the shell and it is now painted in Porsche Anthracite Brown and in the build phase. One serious Golf!”
